These are just a few words that sum up one of the most notable trade shows in the country: Dreamforce.

At this year’s Dreamforce, people shook hands, traded business cards, saw product demos, walked around with bags overflowing with free gifts, and listened to high-profile keynotes such as will.i.am and Melinda Gates who shared their advice and business journeys.

The conference focused on the theme of giving to education, health, equality for all, and compassion. .Each day was dedicated to a different cause, and attendees had the opportunity to learn about and donate to different organizations that related to the different causes.

This Dreamforce was one for the books and Macate was privileged to be a Bronze Sponsor and showcase our products. For those of you who missed out on attending this once of a lifetime experience, read on to see the five things Macate loved about #df16!

  1. Keynote Speakers

Inspirational keynote speakers fired up and motivated attendees each day. One of the highlights was keynote speaker Tony Robbins. Robbins did what he does best, empower people and show them how they can achieve their dreams with their current talents and resources. Attendees stood on their feet in response to the motivation and high energy.

Another highlight was the personal and intimate fireside chat with Melinda Gates and Robin Roberts, in which Gates shared how the encouragement and push from her science and math teachers is what started her love for computer science and coding.

The focus of Gates and Roberts’ conversation tied into the theme of giving and education, and Gates shined a light on how all types of transformative work in all industries and societies starts with investing in women. Gates also revealed to listeners that collecting data on women in the developing world is a crucial step that is needed if companies and societies decide to invest in women.

2. Dreampitch

It’s always fun to see others’ successes, and none were more public than the participants of Dreamforce’s first ever “Dreampitch Competition”.

This Shark Tank-esque competition chose three lucky startups to pitch their products within four minutes to judges Mark Cuban, Chris Sacca, Shahrzad Rafati and will.i.am.

All contestants’ products are built on Salesforce’s App Cloud, and the grand prize was $150K from Salesforce Ventures and a spot in the Salesforce incubator.

New York startup Claire, a chatbot for testing consumer products, captured the attention and interest from all judges and emerged as the winner.

3. Compassion Day

Amidst all the parties, free SWAG, food and drinks, Dreamforce 16 decided to draw people’s attention to an often-overlooked action that can change the world. Compassion was the theme for the last and final day of the conference, and was an excellent reminder that innovation isn’t the only ingredient needed for a successful company.

Throughout the week, conference attendees were encouraged to donate to multiple causes. RED was the designated charity, and at the end of the conference attendees raised close to $1 million to help create an AIDS-free generation.

4. U2

The Cow Palace was transformed into the “Cloud Palace” and over 40,000 people filled the stadium. U2 was the headliner and played classic hits “Pride (In the Name of Love)”, “Beautiful Day”, and “One.

Besides fulfilling the bucket list of every person who wante to see them perform live, U2 also raised $10 million for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals in the process.

5. Number of Attendees

A staggering 170,000 people walked through the Moscone Center at Dreamforce this year. And those of us at Macate were thrilled to meet all of you who stopped by our booth #2146.
